Currently, as stated in Civil Service Rules and Regulations, a person who prior to the date of examination has been honorably discharged from service with any branch of the United States military is entitled to have five (5) preference points added to that person’s passing grade; or a person who prior to the date of examination is employed by the City and has satisfactorily completed six (6) or more months of full-time employment with the City, as documented by City performance evaluations, is entitled to have five (5) preference points added to that person’s passing grade. Five (5) preference points are the maximum preference points that a person may receive.
