Dayton observes PHDMC Stay at Home Health Advisory

The City of Dayton is joining Public Health-Dayton & Montgomery County and the State of Ohio in urging people to stay at home as much as possible for the next 30 days.

In an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19, as new infections continue to set records statewide, all City buildings will be closed to the public beginning Monday, Nov. 23. These are: City Hall, the One-Stop Building, the Safety Building, the Dayton Convention Center, Water Administration, and all recreation centers.

To observe the PHDMC advisory, City employees will work at home when possible, and distancing/sanitation practices will continue to be applied in City workplaces. Some work schedules will be adjusted to allow for fewer employees to be present at facilities simultaneously.

"The City of Dayton and its employees continue to approach this public health emergency with the utmost sincerity," said City Manager Shelley Dickstein. "We understand the sacrifice and inconvenience experienced by residents and businesses, and we will keep working with the community to reduce the impact of the virus as much as possible."

Starting Nov. 23:

  • Payment centers will be closed. City of Dayton utility payment can be made by phone, online, by mail, or at any CVS or Family Dollar store (bring your billing statement).
  • Routine fire inspections and interior housing inspections will be halted.
  • Dayton Police, Fire, and other emergency personnel will continue operations but have also modified how their services will be rendered.
  • The Dayton Convention Center and all recreation centers will be closed.
  • All public meetings will continue to occur virtually. This includes Board of Zoning Appeals, Dayton Plan Board, Landmark Commission and Community & Neighborhood Development Advisory Board meetings.

There will be no interruption to Public Works services during this time. However, residents are encouraged to download and utilize the free Dayton Delivers app. which allows residents to report most service issues.

The customer service phone line, 937-333-4800, will continue to take residents’ calls from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
