FAMILY ASSISTANCE CENTER

Montgomery County, in partnership with ADAMHS (Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services Board), is now operating a Family Assistance Center at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 1500 Shiloh Springs Rd. The center will operate until further notice, Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Center will serve as a “one stop” location to meet with representatives of Public Health – Dayton & Montgomery County, American Red Cross, Montgomery County Auditor’s Office, Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services, St. Vincent DePaul, United Way HelpLink, Ohio BMV, and ABLE Legal Aid. The Center will offer access to one-on-one intervention services to assist with trauma and mental health needs for those individuals affect by the tornadoes. Trained specialists will help to identify needs and make referrals to appropriate services.

A computer lab will be available for displaced residents to access online services for such things as insurance claims, public assistance benefits, replacement Medicaid/Medicare cards, and information on senior services, housing and transportation services.

Public Health will be providing immunizations on Thursday, June 6, and free cribs for those affected by the tornadoes during all hours of operation. They will also provide information and referrals to other Public Health services. 

Document Replacement and Legal Resource Clinic

 Monday, June 17, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sinclair Community College (Building 12)

Through a collaboration of community groups and organizations, residents impacted by the tornadoes who have lost important documents can receive a waiver on all application fees for the following documents:

  • Driver’s License
  • Auto Title
  • Divorce Decree
  • Court ordered Name Change Document
  • Deeds
  • Marriage License
  • Social Security Card
  • Passport
  • Guardianship

Residents will also receive information on post-tornado issues and gain a better understanding of:

  • FEMA assistance programs
  • Nutritional programs and benefits such as emergency food stamps
  • Landlord/tenant issues
  • Insurance claim issues
  • Homeowner mortgage payment options after a disaster
  • Consumer fraud scams
  • Tax relief options

FOOd

The Foodbank’s drive-through (56 Armor Place, Dayton) is open to individuals and families in need of food and water throughout the month of June at the following times: Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays - 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Property owners affected by tornadoes in Montgomery County can pick up a free copy of property deeds at the Montgomery County Recorder's Office, 451 W Third, Dayton, from 8 am - 4 pm, Monday - Friday. Call 937-225-6381 for more information.

Laundry  

Through June 16, from 9 am - 5 pm daily, households can have up to 2 loads of laundry washed, dried, and folded free of charge by Matthew 25: Ministries and Proctor & Gamble at Home Depot (5200 Salem Ave., Dayton 45426). They will also be distributing free hygiene products. Hygiene products are also available at Montgomery County Fairgrounds (645 Infirmary Rd., Dayton, OH 45417).

Individuals wishing to volunteer with recovery efforts can sign up at the Montgomery County Volunteer Reception Center located at Sinclair Community College. All types of assistance are needed. Licensed professionals in skilled trades, as well as individuals and companies that own and operate equipment (everything from chainsaws to heavy equipment) are very much needed and encouraged to volunteer their time. Volunteers must sign up in person and bring a picture ID.

Debris Disposal

The following items MUST be taken to the Montgomery County Transfer Station (2550 Sandridge Dr., Dayton, OH - Show Map):

The City is currently performing debris removal operations in the following neighborhoods:

  • Wright View – Daily monitoring and removal of debris placed at the curb by residents. 
  • Old North Dayton – Daily monitoring and removal of debris placed at the curb by residents.
  • North Riverdale – Daily monitoring and removal of debris placed at the curb by residents.
  • Deweese – Forestry is working to remove trees that are down or appear to be hazardous.

Residents of the impacted neighborhoods above can place vegetation and solid waste (household items) at the curb. Crews will continue to cycle through the neighborhoods to pick up storm debris. Residents MUST separate vegetation, household items, metal and tires.
