Mission
To provide independent, equitable, and impartial employment services, based on merit and fitness, for the City of Dayton, Dayton Public Schools, and to our community with a continuous commitment to deliver these services utilizing the highest levels of integrity, respect and teamwork on behalf of the Civil Service Board.
Responsibilities
We accurately and efficiently enforce the primary goals and objectives set forth by the City of Dayton Charter and the Civil Service Board, as well as applicable elements of collective bargaining agreements, State of Ohio statutes and the United States Code.
We are pleased to serve your needs as related to applying for employment with the City of Dayton. The Civil Service Board has the authority to see that all employees in the classified service of the City are appointed solely on the basis of merit and fitness.
With the exception of elected officials, the City Manager, Clerk of Commission, department directors, division heads and certain deputies, professionals and secretaries, all employees are in the classified service.
Civil Service is undergoing many changes, especially in the areas of technology, Civil Service rules and regulations, testing administration, recruitment and more, all designed to serve you better.
